Lactate dehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of L+ lactate to pyruvate with the simultaneous reduction of NAD+ to NADH.

Under the conditions of the assay, the rate of NADH development is directly proportional to the amount of enzyme activity present in the sample. Concentrations correspond to IFCC recomendations
